Operating the WDV ReproCENTER 8640 as a copier is just as simple as using an analog copier and includes functions such as zoom, brightness control and multiple copies. The digital zoom range extends from 25% to 400%. For instance, an A4 layout can be enlarged to full A0 in a single step. The digital multiple copy function can produce up to 99 copies after scanning the original just once. It can also handle extra long originals of up to 15 meters.

A special background correction function makes it possible to generate high quality reproductions of poorly legible origins and blueprints. Whole sets of drawings can be scanned and copied using the collate function.

In addition to functioning as a copier, the WDV ReproCENTER 8640 can also be used as a plotting and printing station. Various standard and network interfaces allow easy connection to local workstations or network environments. The integrated graphics controller interprets a wide range of vector and raster formats. Even PostScript layouts can be handled effortlessly. All plot functions such as roll selection, recognition of paper sizes or rotation of raster data are executed fully automatically. At full data flow, the WDV ReproCENTER 8640 can attain a print or copy speed of 4 x A0 per minute. The paper is automatically fed through using two paper rolls of 175 meters. The system can handle normal paper as well as other media such as transparencies, vellum or film.

The WDV ReproCENTER 8640 has the option of a scan-to-file function, which can be used from any PC or workstation. This function easily converts along originals inot digital files. Furthermore, the integrated "WIDEImage" view and edit software incorporates a number of useful tools for image viewing and manipulation. These include cropping, editing and deletion of specific areas of the image, distortion correction, spotting, and correction of defects on the original.
